Welcome to Purrso (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application, Purrso (the “Application”). Please read this policy carefully.

This policy applies to the information we collect:

  • In this Application.
  • Through your use of the Application's features, such as scanning and importing receipts.

It does not apply to information collected by any third party, including through any application or content that may link to or be accessible from the Application.

By using the Application, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information we collect

We may collect information that you provide to us directly and information that we collect automatically.

Information you provide to us

  • Receipt and payment slip data: When you scan a receipt or payment slip using our Application, we process the image to extract data such as the merchant's name, date, total amount, and line items. This information is the core of the service we provide.
  • Photo library access: With your explicit permission, we may access your device's photo library to allow you to import images of receipts you have already saved. We only process the images you specifically select for import. We do not access your photo library for any other purpose.

Automatically collected information

All data processing, including Optical Character Recognition (OCR), is performed on your device. We do not collect any personal information automatically.

We may collect anonymous, non-personal information to help us improve the application, such as:

  • Usage data: Anonymous data about your interactions with the Application (e.g., features used, session duration).
  • Device information: Anonymous information about your mobile device (e.g., device model, operating system version).
  • Crash reports: If the app crashes, we may receive an anonymized report to help us identify and fix the issue.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect solely for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain the service: To operate the core functionalities of the Application, including scanning receipts, extracting data, and displaying statistics about your spending.
  • To improve the Application: To understand how our users interact with the Application and to make improvements to its features, performance, and user experience.
  • For data backup: If you enable it, your data may be backed up to your personal iCloud account to allow for data restoration. This process is managed by iOS and your data is subject to Apple's privacy and security policies.

Sharing and disclosure

Your privacy is paramount.

  • No third-party sharing: We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties for marketing or any other purpose.
  • On-device processing: All of your personal data, including receipt images and extracted text, is stored and processed locally on your device. It is never uploaded to our servers or any third-party service without your explicit consent (for example, when you choose to use a backup feature).

Data security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and destruction. All your data resides on your personal device and, if you choose, in your private iCloud backup, which is protected by Apple's security measures.

However, please remember that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

Data retention

We retain your information on your device for as long as you use the Application. You are in full control of your data and can delete your information at any time from within the Application. When you delete a receipt or the application itself, the data is removed from your device.

Children's privacy

Our Application is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information.

Changes to this policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the Application and updating the “Effective Date” at the top of this policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
